{"id":8376,"date":"2025-06-25T06:24:36","date_gmt":"2025-06-25T04:24:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.munghanalonenefm.co.za\/munghanalonenefm\/?post_type=articles&#038;p=8376"},"modified":"2025-07-02T01:03:08","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T23:03:08","slug":"scopa-to-launch-inquiry-into-raf-records","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/www.munghanalonenefm.co.za\/munghanalonenefm\/articles\/scopa-to-launch-inquiry-into-raf-records\/","title":{"rendered":"SCOPA to launch inquiry into RAF records"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Parliament\u2019s Standing Committee on Public Accounts has agreed to launch an inquiry into a range of allegations against the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sabcnews.com\/sabcnews\/scopa-concerned-about-critical-state-of-raf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Road Accident Fund<\/a>\u00a0(RAF).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s the first committee inquiry of the 7<sup>th\u00a0<\/sup>Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>SCOPA says after months of trying to get financial information from the RAF Board and its executive management, the committee has decided to go this route.<\/p>\n<p>The committee says\u00a0the\u00a0RAF has made its task of oversight difficult by not providing truthful and supporting information.<\/p>\n<p>The list of concerns ranges from the RAF failing to do adequate background checks on senior management and executive appointments who regularly deal with large amounts of public funds.<\/p>\n<p>Some of these appointees have previously had allegations of reckless financial management decisions levelled against them.<\/p>\n<p>SCOPA says these allegations all point to a failure by the board to properly oversee management.<\/p>\n<p>The committee will approve the terms of reference on July 1, and the inquiry will take place after the August recess.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Parliament\u2019s Standing Committee on Public Accounts has agreed to launch an inquiry into a range [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":8377,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"article":[],"class_list":["post-8376","articles","type-articles","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.munghanalonenefm.co.za\/munghanalonenefm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/articles\/8376","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.munghanalonenefm.co.za\/munghanalonenefm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/articles"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.munghanalonenefm.co.za\/munghanalonenefm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/articles"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.munghanalonenefm.co.za\/munghanalonenefm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/8377"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.munghanalonenefm.co.za\/munghanalonenefm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8376"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"article","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.munghanalonenefm.co.za\/munghanalonenefm\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/article?post=8376"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
