The Madlanga Commission resumed hearings today, with suspended Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department deputy chief Julius Mkhwanazi expected to continue his testimony. Mkhwanazi has previously made allegations involving organised crime links and irregular vehicle registrations.

Businessman Suliman Carrim, who was scheduled to testify this week, has reportedly been hospitalised following a suspected heart attack, which may delay his appearance before the commission.

Meanwhile, the murder case of former commission witness Marius van der Merwe returned to court. The accused, Matiphandile Sotheni, has denied involvement.

The commission continues to hear evidence related to alleged corruption and questionable security payments linked to the City of Tshwane, with more witnesses expected in the coming days.
