Rustenburg – Orbit College secured their promotion to the Betway Premiership with a narrow 1-0 victory over Cape Town City at Olympia Park Stadium, while simultaneously condemning the Cape side to relegation.
The decisive goal came just two minutes into the second half, when forward Letsie Koapeng capitalised on a defensive lapse to fire home the winner.
The result capped off a dismal season for Cape Town City, who finished 15th in the league standings and will now compete in the Motsepe Foundation Championship next season.
Knowing they needed at least four points from their final two playoff fixtures, the Citizens started the game with intent and energy. However, their efforts ultimately came to nothing as Orbit held firm to secure a historic top-flight promotion.
