The South African Police Services (SAPS) Crime Intelligence Head, Lieutenant-General Dumisani Khumalo, is expected to appear at the Pretoria Magistrate Court today.

This comes after he and other senior SAPS officials were arrested at the OR Tambo International Airport in Kempton Park yesterday.

National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Spokesperson Henry Mamothame confirmed the arrests to SABC News.

Mamothame says Khumalo and other senior managers within the police are expected to appear at the Pretoria Central Magistrate’s court today.

However, he could not give more details about the possible charges the suspects will face and the circumstances relating to their arrests, but reports suggest this could be in connection with alleged unlawful appointments.
