The Chairperson of the Alexandra, Randburg, Midrand, and Sandton Taxi Association (ARMS), Molefe Moekeletsi, has been shot and killed in Viola Crescent, Marlboro Gardens.
Reports indicate that Moekeletsi was attacked by unknown gunmen earlier today. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The motive behind the shooting is still unknown at this stage.
Police have launched an investigation and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
Moekeletsi was a well-known figure in the taxi industry, respected for his leadership and efforts to promote unity among taxi operators in the region.
Authorities have since increased patrols in the area as part of ongoing efforts to prevent further violence linked to the taxi industry.
