David Mabuza passed away on 3 July 2025 at the age of 64 in a hospital in Sandton, Johannesburg, following a prolonged illness. While the exact cause of his death has not been officially disclosed, his passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from across the political spectrum.

 

The African National Congress (ANC) described him as a humble and committed leader, with Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula calling him a dedicated freedom fighter who always prioritized unity, discipline, and transformation within the party.

 

Various political parties, including GOOD, ActionSA, RISE Mzansi, and Build One South Africa, also extended their condolences, recognizing Mabuza’s contributions to South Africa’s political landscape and his long-standing public service.
