Khensani Nyango

I didn’t choose Radio but Radio chose me
Nyango was born in Namakgale Township, Limpopo Province, South Africa.
Nyango attended Phulani byi hola Primary School in Majeje, Gaza and Mhalamhala High Primary School in Namakgale. In 1999, she began attending Nkateko High School. It was in high school that her love for public speaking, debating and writing begun.
Upon completing high school, Nyango enrolled at the University of Limpopo, where she studied for a Degree in Law.
During her years in Varsity she became a member of the Love Life campus initiative, this was to quench her thirst for debate. It was during this time that she starting reciting her poems in public as part of a group of poets in the University. Her writing of poems became useful to her when she was introduced to a team of producers who needed assistance with one of their TV shows. She would translate scripts for the team during shoots; so that the show would appeal to a Tsonga speaking audience. Due to challenges; Nyango dropped out of school.
After passing matric Nyango was fortune enough to be a part of the first team to work for a newly opened Phalaborwa Community Radio. She was moved from one show to next depending on the demand of her listeners. Whilst in varsity, she would devote herself to the Community Radio during school breaks. Nyango was lucky enough to catch the ear of Commercial Radio Station, Capricorn FM. It was then that she knew Radio was her calling. She has been caught saying: “I didn’t choose Radio but; Radio chose me”

• Munghana Lonene FM Gingirikani (Mid-morning) {2012 – Present}
Nyango is currently working on the Mid-morning show for Munghana Lonene FM. Swa Risima is a women’s show that focuses on uplifting the lives of women, both young and old. It seeks to encourage it’s listeners to know more, be more and become the change they want to see in the World. It is through this show that she is given the opportunity to voice out what matters most in the lives of South Africans.
Better yet the features that are mandated assist in her achieving the goals set for the show. Being a mother herself she knows the challenges that women face and strives to find ways in which to improve their lives themselves.
