Having just concluded week-long Mandela Month activations one would think August will come with some rest for the team but not at Munghana Lonene FM team; instead it’s back to work as usual. We also bid a sad but memorable farewell to our own James Shikwambana who has just been appointed PGM Western Cape.
Besides the commencement of preparation of 2016 Xitsonga Music Awards, the station will engage strong on the ground and on-air Women’s month celebrations activities. It is also a great thing that the workforce is gaining some composure with the latest appointment of Ms. Ruth Maphophe as the new Executive Producer Education shows and congratulations are in order for herJ. In the pipeline is also the confirmation of 3 other vacancies, 2 producers & a presenter. The station Manager’s position will also be filled soon bringing a much needed stability to this already hard working team.
The station has already crafted a full day Woman’s Day celebration event which will take place at Phalaborwa on 27th August 2016. Together with Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality, Munghana Lonene FM will stage a Women’s Walk/Marathon for Health, a ladies soccer game and a music festival, all in one day. The station’s Top 30 show will broadcast from Lulekani stadium the venue for the marathon, and the two activities will run concurrently.
Marathon runners and participants of other various activities stand to win wonderful prizes while listeners will not be left behind. The station has planned to engage them in several on-air competitions dedicated to the month of August which carries lucrative prizes too, theirs will be to stay tuned to their favorite radio station and WIN big.
In closing, Munghana Lonene FM urges all men to treat all women in their lives with respect not only on the month of August but throughout the entire year…that is 365 days. To the ladies, continue to be the pillars of those communities and your own families.
