Polokwane, Limpopo Province – It’s back and coming to you in the mist of all things wonderful. This is the 16th Munghana Lonene FM Xitsonga Music Awards popularly known to our listeners
as (XMA). Scheduled to take place from 27 to 29 March 2020 in Giyani, the event promises
nothing less than fireworks!!!
As opposed to the previous years, listeners will determine all nominees as well as performing
artists for the festival, this is how transparent the processes will be. Nominations forms will be available on the website, social media, newspapers and strategic areas such as municipality offices in all the station’s footprint for better accessibility to all the participants.
The forms will be completed and submitted back to the station either by email or hand
delivered to any SABC Offices nationwide.
The official media launches is on Friday 20th December 2019 while the Special Recognition Awards & Festival elements are planned for 27th, 28th & 29th March 2020. The events will come excitingly after two major successes by the brand namely; the station’s 55th Anniversary milestone and the realization of more than 1,2 million listeners as projected at the beginning of the current fiscal.
Special recognition nominees will also be open to the public to nominate their deserving artist to ensure that the spectrum is broadened and allows all deserving legends an opportunity to be honored. Audiences should look out for the contenders to the 3 most sought after awards being the Artist of the year, Song of the year and Producer of the year categories which were previously won by Henny C and Joe Shirimani respectively.
Information about the awards will be available on Munghana lonene website, social media platforms, newspapers, television and SABC radio stations. The big reveal of the results of the nominations process will be on 8th of January 2020, the voting process will then lauch on air the on the same date. The outcome of voting and winners will only be revealed to all on the ddates of the events startinng with the results of the special awards on the 27 March 2020 and the main Awards on 28 March 2020. SABC Audit Department oversees the results consolidation and will only reveal the results at the awarding ceremony on the 28th March 2020.
The nominations are open to anyone who does their music craft in Xitsonga language .Honorary awards can be extended to artists outside the boarders of South Africa as long they made their contribution by singing and compose music in Xitsonga. XMA16 promises all things epic as artists continues to dish out improved quality offering through music.
